Transforming the green heart of Mumbles so it's fit for the future: By the community; for everyone

Taken just a few days before being handed over, this shows how the front of the new Underhill Hub looks in May’23.

And now work is underway on fitting out our new café & community space, and putting the finishing touches to the internal decoration.

We also need to fully set up the operation and train new staff and volunteers, so it will be a little while before we are ready to open.

Please be patient, we are excited about opening our new facilities and looking forward to welcoming you soon!

Here’s a peek inside

What will be on offer?

Our plans for the new Hub café are being shaped now. Initially we are planning to offer catering either in the café or through the hatch window Wednesday through to Sunday, 9am – 6pm, although closing at 5pm on Sundays. This will allow us to assess demand, test out different catering and find out from our customers what they would like to see offered.

On Mondays and Tuesdays, the Hub will be closed for casual visits, to allow us to offer activity sessions, either directly or through groups hiring the Hub. Again, we will be shaping this based on interest from activity organisers and from the community… so do get in touch and let us know what you would like to see on offer.

The Hub will be available for private hire outside of our core opening, and we are currently working through the types of occasions and charges for this aspect.

And we are already looking forward to the start of next season for both rugby and football when the new changing facilities, which form the majority of the buildings, can start being used.

Some new faces to help us on our journey

Say hello to some of the new faces who are part of the Go Underhill Team:

Douglas Johnson
Underhill Development Manager

Doug is in charge of our whole operation, so get in touch if you want to enquire about any aspect, including activities you want to put on or see in the new Hub

Keiran Ivett
Underhill Café Manager

Keiran is responsible for all the catering on offer in the Hub and through our ‘Hatch’ service.  Get in touch with Keiran if you have any specific questions about what will be on offer.

Helen Gough
Special Adviser for Volunteering

Helen is taking the lead in helping us recruit and organise our volunteers.  Please email Helen if you have time to give and would like to be part of the Go Underhill family.

Get involved

There are lots of ways you can get involved and be a part of our exciting venture.

  • Become a part of the Go Underhill team, we will have a few part time job opportunities which will be advertised on the noticeboard in the park, on our website and through social media
  • We are also looking to recruit a team of volunteers to help us. Why not consider offering some of your time to volunteer by joining one of the three teams we are setting up
    ♦  Hub Café Team
    ♦  Maintenance Team
    ♦  Green Team

If you have time you are prepared to give to volunteer with Go Underhill, then please get in touch by emailing Helen Gough, our Special Adviser for Volunteering.

And of course, you can be part of Go Underhill simply by using the new facilities, whether that’s enjoying some refreshments in the new café, joining in some of the activity sessions, hiring the rooms or just sharing your views with us, so we can make Underhill Hub and Park a place where you want to spend time.
