A businessman living in the local area has come forward with a generous donation of £10k towards the Go Underhill development.

Whilst wishing to remain anonymous, the individual has made the donation as a local resident who values what Underhill Park has to offer and wants to see the development of new and improved facilities taking place, for the benefit of everyone in the community.

Significantly, the money has been given to the scheme with no conditions on where it must be spent. This gives the MCA Trustees the ability to use the funding where it is most needed. This could be towards the new All Weather Pitch, the new changing rooms or new play facilities and landscaping around the Community Hub and Café, which will be built using the £490k awarded by The National Lottery Communities Fund.

The donation has already been given, in anticipation of work starting on the first elements of the development, which MCA hope will be in Spring 2021, and there is potential for additional donations from the same individual in future years.

Chair of MCA, Simon Tse, said:

We are enormously grateful to this individual for the generous contribution he has made to the Go Underhill development. It’s easy for people to say that they want to see things happen, but it takes someone special to go the extra mile and do something about it.

Without people stepping up to make the project happen, whether by making a donation like this person, raising funds, sponsoring the development or giving their time free of charge, we won’t be able to deliver the plans the community want to see happen.

We are extremely grateful to all those who have supported us to date and helped us get within touching distance of making the plans a reality. As we move closer to getting the building work started, we hope that more individuals and businesses will decide that they want to be involved in helping us deliver this game-changing project for the community.

If you are prepared to play a part in the Go Underhill development, please get in touch.
