Swansea’s largest Independent Estate Agent, Dawsons, has stepped forward with £5,000 to support the Go Underhill developments.

The company, which has a sales & rental branch in Mumbles and 12 other major branches stretching from Swansea to Llanelli, is a regular supporter of local good causes and has decided to get behind the plans for Underhill Park.

Dawsons’ Senior Partner, Chris Hope, said:

“As a company, we think it’s important to play a part in positive developments which will benefit the communities we serve, and never more so than during the current difficult times.

“The plans for transforming Underhill Park are ambitious and broad reaching, and Mumbles Community Association, the charity behind it, are making huge strides forwards. As a company which is very much part of the local community, Dawsons want to do our bit to help get all the new facilities delivered.”

The announcement comes on the back of the news that MCA has secured almost £490k for a new Community Hub & Café, which will sit at the heart of the development plans. The Phase 1 plans also include replacing the dilapidated sports changing rooms, used throughout the year by Mumbles Rangers football club and Mumbles Rugby Club, refurbishing the existing Pavilion, providing new public toilets, and developing a new, floodlit, all-weather pitch.

As well as giving money to the project, Dawsons are also helping Mumbles Community Association (MCA) in other ways, in particular with getting the message out to other local businesses and encouraging them to get on board with the project.

Chris continued:

“Dawsons have sponsored Mumbles Rugby Club’s annual Cracker 7’s tournament since its inception, so we know what a difference money from local companies can make. It’s rewarding to see our funding used to support initiatives which help everyone, and in particular young people, to play and enjoy sport. It’s important for the health and well-being of the community and also makes good sense for our business. These are existing and future customers for us.”

Chair of MCA, Simon Tse, said:

“We’re delighted that Dawsons have come forward with funding and support for Go Underhill. This is another step forward in helping us get over the line and raise the rest of the money we need.

“We hope that more local businesses will join Dawsons, and Joe’s Ice Cream, in putting money into enabling MCA to deliver these transformational plans for Underhill.”

Dawsons was created some 30 years ago from a company that started in the 1970’s. Today, with around 130 staff working within 15 branches/departments stretching from Neath valley, through Swansea and Llanelli to Carmarthen, Dawsons are truly ‘All things Property’.

In 2020 Dawsons were recognised by an independent industry panel as being within the Top 5% of estate agents throughout the UK, based on ‘marketing, results and customer satisfaction’.

Renowned for being Swansea’s leading sales, rental and auction agent, Dawsons also specialize in surveys, commercial sales, and property management.  They have Swansea’s only dedicated Land & New Homes department.

Whilst a bold statement, no estate agent plays a bigger part in championing and becoming actively involved in local communities, supporting local schools and citywide events like ‘Swansea Air Show’, along with beloved charity events such as Mumbles’ annual Cracker 7’s rugby festival.
